My paintings explore the richness of the natural world—trees, stormy skies, mosses, rocks—through layers of colour, texture, and atmosphere. I'm drawn to the lushness of forests and the drama of shifting skies, translating these experiences into oil on canvas or birch panel. My style has shifted over time from strict realism to a looser, more impressionistic approach that prioritizes mood and presence over detail. Some works grow out of my lifelong connection to Glengarry, and life on the farm - others from discoveries I make while traveling. All are attempts to translate the elements of the landscapes that move me.

When I'm on a road trip, travelling abroad, or even when I'm just driving around Glengarry - the scenery will often stop me. The way the light comes through the trees, a peculiar cloud formation or a majestic tree standing in a field... I take thousands of photos to use as reference for my paintings. Sometimes, they inspire me a decade later. Then I put my spin on the scene, experimenting with colour and composition.
